Abil loves spinning!!

google image

So, this is a front loading washing machine. A normal and regular washing machine. However, Abil is somehow fascinated by it.Why? it spins. Autism and spinning are very synonym. They can sit and watch spinning objects for hours. This is called 'visual stimming' i.e. a stress-relief action which brings pleasure and relaxation to person with autism.

Is it (watching spinning things for hours) bad? Well, it depends. While there are arguments saying that looking at spinning objects actually serves a purpose ( a way of rebuilding some loose connections in the brain), allowing it to happen extensively may lead to a serious case of self-withdrawal.

OK, these are pictures of Abil with his favourite washing machine at my sister's house. He is so amazed by the machine. He watched the machine works as if he was watching a movie. It might even be a cinematherapy to him...haha. You can also see Zarif 'joining' him, maybe Zarif was also curious and he wanted to see what Abil was actually looking at, in the washing machine.

I think I want one of these too. They make washing easy peasy! :)
